Today’s Stock Market: Could You Survive Another 2008-2009 Correction?

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TEXAS — DFW Retirement Planners News)   When you’re in or near retirement, the thought of going through a market correction like 2008-2009 can be downright frightening.  This Saturday on DFW Retirement Radio, we’ll talk about alternatives to the risky, volatile US stock market which allow you to sleep-well-at-night in retirement.

Britni Levensailor, VP of DFW Retirement Planners and host of DFW Retirement Radio, recently talked about the market.  She said, “Folks just don’t realize the risk that they’re living with in the US stock market.   Many believe that because they have their investments spread among several different stocks or categories of companies that they’re diversified.   Sadly, many learn a very painful lesson during a major market correction when all stocks take a significant hit in value.”

The alternative to the risky market, according to Levensailor, is alternative investments.   She added, “Alternative investments are not traded on an exchange and as a result don’t bob up and down with the stock market.   For people in or near retirement, alternative investments can be much less volatile, which means less stress for the investor.  We refer to this as a ‘Sleep Well at Night” Retirement Plan.'”

DFW Retirement Planners offers a complimentary initial consultation at either their Dallas or Ft. Worth offices.   Levensailor says the meetings are a good chance to see what’s possible in retirement.  She added, “People often tell us that they learn a lot from our initial consultation.  With the tools that we have at our firm, we make it possible for folks to get a very good idea of how they can best put their nest egg to work and live the best life possible in retirement.”
