(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TX – DFW Retirement Radio News) As the saying goes, we have good news and bad news. The good news is we\’re living longer. The bad news is we’re living longer. Current life expectancy is roughly 79 years, and longer for women. A person born this year can expect to live to 89 years, and again, longer for women. So why is living longer bad news. Because we run the risk of outliving our money, according to financial planner Britni Levensailor at DFW Retirement Planners.
Levensailor, who hosts a weekly retirement radio program, DFW Retirement Radio, recently addressed longer life expectancy on the radio. She said, “Living longer makes good retirement planning even more important. And as our life expectancy continues to lengthen, having a solid plan for not running out of money is essential.” On DFW Retirement Radio, Levensailor references the DFW Retirement Planners complimentary retirement plan check-up which offers people a no-cost meeting that covers the important components to a retirement plan. Levensailor continued, “We help our clients plan out to age 100. If a client makes it to 100, they will be thanking us because they’ll be prepared.”
Managing healthcare costs including Medicare are examples of the headwinds that retirees must anticipate and manage during retirement. Mark Robinson, Medicare Specialists & planner at DFW Retirement Planners, says that mistakes in Medicare can be very costly. He said, “Signing up for Medicare incorrectly can be expensive two ways. First, there’s the extra cost but there’s also a potential loss in quality of medical care.” Robinson, who is a regular contributor on DFW Retirement Radio, says that there is a simple solution for managing Medicare… get competent assistance. He added, “In 45 minutes I can help a client understand what their options are. It’s amazing to see the light go on when we help folks connect the dots.”
Both Levensailor and Robinson recommend that people get help with a retirement plan. Levensailor said, “There are enough moving parts to retirement that it’s wise to get help. At DFW Retirement Planners we offer a complimentary retirement plan check-up. That gives people a chance to check us out without any obligation.” Robinson urges people to get educated. He said, “Our DFW Retirement Radio program is a very good source of education. Tune into KRLD or WBAP and you’ll learn something every week.”
